The HR Generalist II is responsible to serve as first point of contact on all employee related concerns, complaints, and grievances and provide a litigation-free workplace.  Researches, conducts interviews and provides recommendations for possible solutions or actions steps needed. The HR Generalist II is responsible for HR Compliance and works with the Director of People Operations to ensure that the company is meeting all federal and state laws and properly maintains and records updates to Employee Handbooks, Policies, and related training material.


  • Assists in the review of current employee relations policies, practices and procedures to ensure uniformity of application and compliance with company policy. Makes recommendations to the Director of People Operations to change policies, practices, and procedures where current and pending legal regulations may impact organization.
  • Provides guidance, support and counsel to employees on defined employee relations issues. Escalates to senior personnel as appropriate. Facilitates company approved employee training sessions and guidance meetings.
  • Within company policy assists in the investigation of employee complaints and disputes within company policy; documents findings and recommends disciplinary action and/or appropriate resolution. Implements resolution as approved by senior level personnel.
  • Conducts basic internal audits of employee relations issues such as employee turnover, hiring, transfer and promotion practices, exit interviews, etc. to identify trends or situations that need training, counseling or reprimand. Compiles findings and recommends action(s) to resolve issues.
  • Facilitates basic company approved training programs to enhance manager/employee coaching, communication and feedback programs that enhance employee satisfaction and to resolve misunderstandings before they escalate.
  • Assists in conducting exit interviews follow ups, identifies potential employee relations issues, reports findings and recommends action.
  • Tracks all employee relations issues and records metrics to comply with legislative and internal requirements. Prepares, analyzes and documents all cases as appropriate within company guidelines and confidentiality requirements.
  • Provides Director of People Operations with Monthly Metrics on all Employee Relations cases.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date with all federal and state laws to ensure compliance is adhered to.  Prepares presentations with changes that impact the management community, as well as, the general employee community and informs senior level personnel as needed.
  • Updates and maintains changes to the Employee Handbook and company policies.  Creates consistent practices across all TROC entities while also capturing all client specific policies and working with Talent Acquisition and People Operations team to ensure timely communication, implementation and updates to systems as needed.  


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management.
  • SHRM –CP or SHRM – SCP, PHR or SPHR Certification is a plus.
  • Minimum three (3) years handling basic to complex employee relations issues and concerns with a high degree of successful results.
  • Knowledge of Puerto Rico laws is desired.
  • Strong ethical and moral values to ensure confidentiality and the integrity of the process, department and organization is adhered to.
  • Strong technical skills and high attention to detail is required.
  • Great customer service orientation is essential while keeping focused on factual results of fact gathering.
  • Must be organized, responsible and flexible to business operations and last minute changes.
  • Great ability to research, discover or network for answers to unknown or ambiguous situations and a proactive approach for resolution.
  • Proficient knowledge of wage and hour laws, as well as, nationwide federal and state laws.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and in writing with all levels throughout the organization.
  • Retail industry experience is highly desired.
  • Must be able to manage high volume of cases, demands from management and work well with timelines and stressful situations.
  • Proficient in ADP Workforce Now.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Occasional travel may be required, may be up to 20%.
